On Tuesday, April 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., all ages are invited to the Massillon Public Library to attend an Open House Author Visit with local author, Dawn Clark.
Clark, who resides in Massillon, spent many hours with her own children reading books every night at bedtime and making up stories for them all day long, which included naming the squirrels scampering around the maple tree in their backyard. With her two children now in college, Clark has transformed those cherished family memories into the story of "Squiggly Gets Glasses."
Squiggly, a young squirrel, just wants to fit in, but it is hard when he looks so different from the other squirrels at school. And the class bully, Archie, doesn’t make it any easier. But with the help of some friends, Squiggly learns that being different doesn’t have to be hard—it can be fun!
Kids will enjoy hearing this story that deals with real life issues on their level read by its author. They will also have the opportunity to draw their own Squiggly story, enjoy other fun activities, and have a snack! Participants will have a chance to win a poster of Squiggly by playing the “Guess How Many Nuts” contest.
Signed books will be on sale during the program for $13.83 (paperback) and $18.09 (hardback). No registration is required for this free program to be held in the library’s auditorium.
