In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Massillon Public Library invites local poetry lovers to the eleventh annual Poetry Read-In on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. Come recite your original or favorite classic poems or just sit back and listen! Readers will be limited to five minutes and poems must be family-friendly.
Winners of the library’s poetry contest will be awarded their prizes, donated by the Junior Friends of the Library, and given the opportunity to read their poems at the Read-In. Thirty-four local residents submitted a total of 71 poems for the contest.
Winners were: Noah Fox, for "Canticle of the Colors" (grades 3-8 category), Julie Gladwell, for "Ode to Equality" (grades 9-12 category), and Brett Cortelletti, for "On Abstract Expressionism" (adult category). Duane Dodson of Stark State College was the judge. Join us for this free event and become part of Massillon’s literary history! Refreshments will be served.
